Berlin, Reichstag

Half way through the Reichstag, drawn in glorious hot sunshine, although the threat of sunbun followed by a serious thunder storm and an unusually large number of spiders and ants meant I had to abandon the drawing before I was quite finished. The joys of drawing on location!

Berlin, around Potsdamer Platz

There's something about Potsdamer Platz which keeps me coming back.  Maybe it's because after a long stint drawing I love the walk home along the canal.

Berlin, Historic Mitte

Drawing in the rain under the Paul-Lobe-Haus and the Marie-Elizabeth-Luders-Haus. I had to keep moving position to avoid the rain drops.

Two of my prints, Standing Stag and RRS Discovery appeared in the 'atHome' magazine from the Scotland on Sunday on April 29th on the walls of a featured flat in Edinburgh's Stockbridge. You can see more of my current prints in my webshop here: SUSIE WRIGHT SHOP

Berlin, Berliner Dom, Staatsbibliothek & Potsdamer Platz

Beliner Dom, I did this drawing in three trips, each time working until my fingers lost feeling because of the cold.

Another brief lunch time concert at the Philharmonie followed by a surprisingly warm stint of drawing the Staatsbibliotek and some more buildings around Potsdamer Platz

More drawing in Berlin

I was asked to draw the Sony Centre as a gift for the architect Helmut Jahn, thankfully it warmed up enough to sit outside all day and not get numb hands once!

A quick drawing of the view over the Spree, too cold to sit in one place for too long that day!

Berlin

I am in Berlin for a while, getting lots of architectural inspiration and trying to stay warm. It's a world away from being in India but an interesting contrast. I went to a lunch time concert at the Berlin Philharmoniker today and heard some beautiful music from Misa Criolla. Afterwards I took the opportunity, while it wasn't totally freezing, to do some drawing outside, until my hands lost all feeling. Then retreated inside for a coffee and more drawing. There's even some people in the second image!

Eyestorm print re-stock

A lovely write up about my work from Angie at Eyestorm where a selection of my prints are available.

Atomic skis

I stumbled upon some skis in the new North Face shop in Edinburgh the other day which I made artwork for. I was commissioned to make some 3D models out of balsa wood and paper which I screen printed on and then photographed. The final design was put together by Tim Clayton at Atomic. It was good to finally see them in the flesh..now I just need some snow!

20/21 International Art Fair and new print work

I have three new prints showing with Tag Fine Arts at The 20/21 International Art Fair which is taking place at the RCA from 16th-19th Feb 2012.

Tibidabo - etching & screen print

I've been working with the drawings I did in Barcelona over the summer and have been trying out etching as a new process, it gives you such a great quality of line so different from screen printing and indulges my labour intense way of drawing!
